BAD ELECTRICAL WORK…

SO, HOW MUCH DOES THAT REALLY COST?

In recent months, we have received numerous calls from our potential South Texas customers; who are frazzled and at their wits end. Mostly due in part to having scheduled an electrical service appointment with a company, only to have no one show up for the appointment.

We’ve also had folks call who have hired an electrician who has abandoned their commercial or residential service job before the service was complete. The potential customers were left high and dry without help and are now scrambling to have someone finish the project.  Unfortunately, the individual they hired was more than likely too busy to perform the service or quite possibly didn’t have the proper licensing and was unable to finish the scope of work necessary to complete it.

On to another scenario...How about that friend of a friend who came out and installed that ceiling fan; that later fell down and damaged both the ceiling fan and the ceiling? Thankfully no one was under the fan, because they very well could have been injured. It may have only cost you dinner and a few hours of your time to have that friend install your ceiling fan, but now you’re looking at repairs to your ceiling , purchasing another ceiling fan, as well as to have someone out to install it.

These things happen, and we understand how incredibly frustrating it can be.

Here are a few ways you can protect yourself and be proactive in these type of situations.

1: Just say NO to some types of D.I.Y.:

When it comes to electrical repairs, some are pretty straight forward and safe; especially if you’re mechanically savvy, but just because you can watch a repair video online; doesn’t mean you should throw caution to the wind and make the repairs yourself, especially when it comes to the wiring in your Home or in your Office.

The Troubleshooting process is just as important to the repairs; as the actual repair itself. If you’re not certain why your breaker keeps tripping, or you have an outlet that is sizzling or hot to the touch, there could be a larger problem brewing, and merely replacing the breaker or the outlet might not even solve the issue, or could make it worse and let’s not forget if there’s an electrical injury involved in the scenario.

We see it often, where a D.I.Y. electrical repair can end up costing folks more $ in the long run. You’ll save your hard earned money by calling out an experienced and licensed electrician to get the job completed correctly and safely, rather than running the risk of any accidents or even injury.

2. “Handy” Friends OR Relatives:

We all have that Friend or Relative that is extra“Handy” who will tell you they had similar electrical issues and they made the repairs themselves, but in our experience, calling someone with the proper licensing and knowledge is not only more cost effective, but what about any potential injuries from a shock or fall from a ladder, or worse. Who is responsible for those costs? That’d be you. Neither scenario is worth the potential liability.

3. Choosing your Electrician:

We receive quite a few calls from folks who have hired an electrician who has pulled permits for a job and then couldn’t finish the work and then completely ghosting them in the process. This is problematic for the customer because changing electricians mid project, will end up costing the Customer double; for a single job.

4. Looking for the right fit:

After a quick online search, you can pull up a laundry list of“Electricians Near Me” but are they the right kind of Electricians for your electrical needs?

Some electricians only perform certain types of Electrical Service, i.e. Commercial versus Residential – Service/ Repair versus New Construction, OR they may specialize in several types of Electrical Service. It’s always best to check, AND, you can also always ask trustworthy friends and neighbors which company they’ve been happy with in the past.

Finding a Service company you can depend on can seem difficult, but a little research often pays off. Save yourself not only time and finances, but also the stress!
